Q

What is a strength of the multi store model?

A

Supporting evidence
(For different memory stores)
Baddeley found they’re encoded differently, so must be separate.
High internal validity.

Q

What are two weaknesses of the multi store model?

A

Contradictory evidence.
Man called KF- amnesia from motorbike accident.
Recall of digits poor when read to him, improved when reading them himself.
Proves MSM may not be 1 store- STM not fully gone.
Low internal validity.

IDA- nomothetic vs. Idiographic.
MSM takes nomothetic approach- trying to create a universal model to explain human memory.
Ideographic, individual approach may result in an arguably more accurate/valid picture of memory.
Low validity due to potentially inappropriate approach.
