Memory Types Flashcards
(5 cards)
Is designed so that the information store in memory can only be read and under normal circumstances can not be changed
Read Only Memory (ROM)
Is designed so that information can be written to or read from memory
Random Access Memory (RAM)
Allows initial and/or additional information to be written into the chip
Programmable Read Only Memory (PROM)
Is a specially designed PROM that can be reprogrammed after being entirely erased with the use of an ultraviolet light
Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM)
Is a nonvolatile memory that offers the same programming flexibility as does RAM. Can be electronically overwritten with new data instead of being erased with ultraviolet light
Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM)
