Metabolism Flashcards
(13 cards)
What is metabolism?
Total of all chemical reactions occurring within the body.
What types of energy are there?
Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Electromagnetic.
Where does our energy for metabolism come from?
Chemical energy (food) Electromagnetic energy (heat)
What is ATP?
Adenosine triphosphate.
Chemical reaction.
O2+2H2>2 H20
An enzyme DOES NOT make a region happen that wouldn’t of happened already.
It’s false, it would not make it happen if it wouldn’t already.
Photosynthesis formula
12H20(water) + 6CO2 (carbon dioxide) > 6O2 (oxygen) + C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6H20 (water).
Where does photosynthesis happen?
In the chloroplast.
What is the goal of photosynthesis?
To produce sugars.
Calvin Benson Cycle
Uses ATP+NADPH to fix sugars. And happens in the chloroplast.
Light independent reactions uses what?
- 6 co2 + 6 RuBP > 1 glucose.
What is RuBP?
Ribulose biphosphate.
What is the final product of light reactions?
ATP & NADPH. Make then spend.
