Metabolism 63 Flashcards
(19 cards)
What does Apo-CII do?
Activates lipoprotein lipase
What does Apo-AI do?
activates lecithin; cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT)
Apo E is a ligand for what type of receptor?
Remnant Receptor
Apo B-100 is a ligand for what type of receptor?
LDL
Apo A-I is a ligand for what type of receptor?
HDL
B-48 is a structural protein of which lipoprotein?
Chylomicrons
B-100 is a structural protein of which lipoproteins?
LDL & VLDL
A-1 is a structual protein of which lipoproteins?
HDL
Which lipoprotein has the highest fat/protein ratio?
Chylomicrons
Which lipoprotein has the lowest fat/protein ratio?
HDL
Where are Chylomicrons formed?
Intestines
What is the function of Chylomicrons?
To transport dietary TAG to adipose and other tissues
What is the function of the Chylomicron remnant?
To transport remaining dietary TAG to liver
-exchanges TAG for cholesterol ester (CE) from HDL; delivers cholesterol ester (CE) to liver
Where is VLDL formed?
Liver
What is the function of VLDL?
Transports endogenously synthesized TAG to adipose tissue, heart, and skeletal muscle
What is the function of IDL?
- Delivers remaining TAG and cholesterol ester to liver
- exchanges TAG for cholesterol ester (CE) from HDL; delivers cholesterol ester (CE) to liver
What is the function of LDL?
Delivers cholesterol to liver and other cells
Where is HDL formed?
Mostly liver, some in intestines
What is the function of HDL?
- Accepts cholesterol from peripheral cells, esterifies it, and transports the CE to the liver
- Exchanges CE for TAG in LDL, VLDL, and Chylomicron remnants
- Atheroprotective by inhibiting LDL oxidation
- reservoir for Apo proteins
