A metaphor is a direct comparison between two unrelated things. A metaphor is used when something so closely resembles another thing that is said to BE it.

What is a simile?

A

A simile is an indirect comparison between two unrelated things. A simile is used when something closely resembles another thing. Although one thing is very similar to another in one manner it is NOT the same; it is only similar to it.
