Methods Of Training Flashcards
Intensity
How hard you work
Work time
How long you work
Recovery time
How long you recover
Repetition
A short burst of work or an exercise performed once
Set
The number of repetitions completed in a row before a significant rest / recover period is taken.
What does continuous steady pace training develop?
Aerobic fitness
What does continuous steady pace training involve?
Continuous work at a steady pace. Once the heart rate weaches the desired intensity ( %MHR ) or ROE it is then maintained at that intensity for a period of time (usually 30mins plus).
What are examples or continuous steady pace training using different sports?
Long distance running, cycling, swimming and rowing.
Fartlek is the Swedish word for?
Speed play
What is fartlek trading used to develop
Aerobic fitness but has some anaerobic benefits also.
What does Fartlek training involve?
continuous training but includes working the body at high intensities for varying periods of time. Periods of high intensity work are followed by periods of recovery (not stopping) and intensities and times for which they are maintained are decided during the training depending on how the person feels
What some examples of Fartlek training using differnt sports?
Running, cycling, swimming, rowing and team sports
What is Interval training used to develop?
Develops Aerobic and Anaerobic fitness
What does interval training involve?
alternating periods of high intensity work with periods of recovery, but intensity, recovery time and number of repetitions are decided in advance.
What is an example of interval training
Run 200M in 25 secs, followed by 2mins of recover, done 5 times.
What is circuit traing used to develop
Develops Aerobic or Anaerobic fitness
