Eyepiece (ocular lens)
Contains a magnifying lens to look through
The magnifying power, usually 10x is engraved beside the lens
Body Tube
Holds the eyepiece at the proper working distance from the objective lenses
Arm
Supports the body tube. Use arm for carrying the microscope.
Revolving Nosepiece
Holds and turns objectives into viewing position
Objective lenses
Each contains a lens with a different power of magnification engraved on them: LOW (4X), MEDIUM (10X), HIGH (40X)
Stage
Platform that supports microscope slide
Stage Clips
Hold the microscope slide in place
Coarse Adjustment Knob
Focuses image under low power
Fine Adjustment Knob
Sharpens image under medium power and high power magnification
Diaphragm
Controls the amount of light entering the body tube
Light Source
Direct light through the diaphragm, the specimen and the lenses.
