An individual who migrates to seek work in another country to send remittances back home.
What are remittances?
Funds that are sent to a migrants country of origin.
What is a refugee?
A person who has moved outside their country of origin, in order to escape war, persecution or natural hazards.
What are three reasons for a refugee?
To escape war, prosecution or natural hazards.
What is an asylum seeker?
An individual who enters another country seeking refugee status due to fear for their life in their home country.
What is net migration?
The difference between the number of immigrants and emigrants for a particular country.
What is an immigrant?
An individual entering a country.
What is an emigrant?
An individual leaving a country.

Why was there a civil war in Syria?
The government regime under the president of Bashar al-Assaad was brutal and unfair.
What started the civil war in Syria?
Protestors took to the streets to oppose the new government regime which they did after other Arab nations opposed theirs.
The president therefore cracked down on this by using military violent control.
