A

Calcium builds strong healthy bones and teeth in children and teenagers
It maintains good bone density in adults and older people

What are the calcium deficiency diseases

A

Rickets - a lack of calcium or vitamin D. Bones do not harden properly during childhood
Osteoporosis- this is a bone disease that causes bones to become weak and break easily. It is most common in older women

A

Iron is needed to manufacture haemogoblin. This is a substance in red blood cells that is needed to carry oxygen around the body in the blood.

What are the iron deficiency diseases

A

Anaemia is a condition caused by a lack or iron. The symptoms of anaemia include tiredness, dizziness and paleness. Women and teenagers girls need to be particularly careful because of blood loss during menstruation

A

Do not have salt on the table
Do not add salt when cooking; instead flavour dishes with spices and herbs
Avoid processed foods, e.g. cured meats
Use low - sodium products, e.g. LoSalt
