Q

diploid cell dividing

A
  1. in cell that’s not dividing, DNA is spread out in long strings
  2. if cell gets signal to divide, needs to duplicate DNA, so one copy for each cell. DNA forms X-shaped chromosomes.
  3. chromosomes line up at centre of cell and cell fibres pull them apart. 2 arms go to opposite ends.
  4. membranes form around each of sets of chromosomes, become nuclei of new cells.
  5. cytoplasm divides
  6. 2 new cells - genetically identical
