Mitosis Flashcards
(32 cards)
How many stages are there?
6
Name the 6 stages of Mitosis
Interphase, prophase, metaphase,Anaphase, Telophase , cytokinesis
What happens in Interphase
Cell grows and develops DNA
Chromosomes duplicates
What happens in prophase
Nuclear membrane disappears
Each chromosome consists of 2 identical chromatids
What stage does the Nuclear membrane disappear?
Prophase
What happens in metaphase
Nuclear membrane completely dissolves
Chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell
What happens in Anaphase
Chromosomes split
Separate into 2 identical single stranded parts
What happens in Telophase
Nuclear membrane begins to re form
Cells begin to separate
What stage does the nuclear membrane re form?
Telophase
What happens in Cytokines
Cytoplasm divides
two daughters cells form
When do the sister chromatids move apart?
Anaphase
The cleavage furrow appears in what stages
End of Telophase
The chromosomes move towards the poles of the cell
Anaphase
The cell plate is completed
Telophase
What stage is the reverse of prophase?
Telophase
What is the organization phase?
Interphase
What days are daughter cells in as a result of mitosis?
Interphase
What is a centromere?
A centromere connects, the two chromatids
What structure forms in prophase along with the chromosomes move
Spindle fibers, and the central mirror
What does cells need?
Cells require oxygen water, and food, which is transported across the cell membrane to survive
It also needs to get rid of waste
Before the cell can divide into two new cells what 2 things must occur
DNA must be replicated that each cell gets a copy of DNA
New organelles and proteins must be created so that each cell is equipped for survival
What does DNA stand for?
Denxyribo Nucleic Acid
What is a chromosome?
Chromosomes holds genetic information during mitosis
What are the three steps included in interface?
G1 S G2
