Mixed-Race Couples 15 Flashcards

Q

What effect does household racial mixing have on neighborhood-level segregation?

A

Our analysis of U.S. Census data shows that those who live in single-race households, who constitute the bulk of the population, are more segregated than indicated by measures of total population segregation. Without mixed-race households, dissimilarity measures of segregation between Whites and Blacks and Whites and Latinos would be higher by nontrivial quantities. (Ellis et al. 2012)
