DCIS
Ductal Carcinoma in situ - abnormal cells replace normal epithelial cells in the ducts of the breast, considered a noninvasive cancer however it can progress into invasive cancer
Modifiable Risk factors for BCA
alcohol consumption, body weight, physical activity levels, oral contraceptive use, HRT, childbearing and breastfeeding
Nonmodifiable risk factors for BCA
inherited genes (BRCA1 and 2), race and ethnicity, dense breast tissue, onset of menarche before 12, menopause after 55, receiving RT to the chest
aromatase inhibitors
blocks the enzyme that converts androgens to estrogen - aromatase, letrozole, exemestane - can cause musculoskeletal pain, affect bone health longterm. Ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake as well as strength training
AC
Adriamycin and Cytoxan - N/V, mucositis, fatigue, red urine
CMF
Cytoxan, Methotrexate, Fluorouracil
