Mod 2 Day 1.4 Functional Anatomy Of The Pelvic Flashcards
What is the normal or average amount of difference in height of the PSIS and ASIS of the pelvis?
ASIS is about .25 lower, if it is more than that it would be considered an anterior tilt
Where does an anterior pelvic tilt put pressure?
It puts more pressure on the facet joints.
What muscles are locked short in an anterior pelvic tilt?
Quads, particularly Rectus femoris
What muscle is locked long with an anterior pelvic tilt?
Hamstrings
When there is an anterior tilt what motion is the hip in and the lumbars in?
Hip flexion and lumbar spine extension that compresses the spine
What muscles groups are shortened in an anterior pelvic tilt?
Hip flexors and Quads
What muscles are long with anterior pelvic tilt?
Glute Maximus and hamstrings
What position is the psoas in during an anterior pelvic tilt?
The psoas will be shortened.
When a patient has a posterior pelvic tilt where will your hands be aligned?
They usually be level with each other.
What motion will the hips and lumbars be in with a posterior pelvic tilt?
Hip extension and lumbo-sacral flexion
How can an anterior pelvic tip and an anterior hip shift affect the psoas?
It can cause the the psoas to be both shortened at the lumbars but pulled long as it crosses the midline because the femur is in extension and lengthening those fibers.
