what is the Medical Model?
Model looks at the disability and views it as something that needs to be fixed/ treated as opposed to seeing that society needs to change
what is the Society Model?
Model that looks at how society needs to change in order to adapt to someone’s individual needs
What is the Affirmation Model?
Model that sees people’s disabilities as part of them that needs to be accepted. Nothing needs to change about them
What is the Biopsychosocial Model?
Model that views disabilities as being impacted by medical, social and psychological factors.
what is the WHO-ICF (2002)
A universal classification for disability and health to be used in health related sectors
What is the Demands and Capacities Model?
A model that assesses the external and internal factors behind fluent and non-fluent speech. Look at what the child capacity is and what demand is being put on the child
What is the Means Reasons and Opportunities Model?
It is a model that helps people to understand the purpose of communication. Looks at why we communicate, how we communicate, When we communicate , who we communicate with and where do we communicate.
