Module 1 lecture 3 Flashcards
(15 cards)
All computers have:
Input, processor, memory, and output.
Servers can be at a:
Data center, office, or home.
Embedded computers include things like:
Smart TVs, cars, Amazon Echoes, and Apple TVs.
Core parts of a computer:
Input, motherboard (processor and memory), storage and output.
Types of computers:
Servers, desktops, laptops, mobile, embedded computers.
Inputs include:
Keyboard, mouse, touch, audio, video, pen.
CPU processor:
Central processing unit. Brain of computer, billions of transistors on microchip, speed measured in mega or giga hertz.
Memory:
Short term data access, data processor is currently working with.
Storage includes things like:
Disks, hard drives, and USB’s.
Storage is things like:
Long-term info, while memory is for current use.
Outputs include things like:
Monitors, projectors, speakers.
Bits and Bytes:
Binary system, base 2 vs base 20 number system, bytes are a series of bits to form something, allows visuals/sound.
Two step process:
Convert binary to base 10, convert number to character, computers only know 0s and 1s.
Different bytes:
8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, 64 bit, the higher the bit the higher resolution.
64 ________ of data on the internet as of 2022.
Zettabytes
