MODULE 16: CONSERVATION Flashcards
(13 cards)
is the process of reducing the use of resources through recycling.
CONSERVATION
These are the resources that can be used and replaced. These include plants, animals, and soil.
Renewable Resources
resources that takes millions of years to form like gold, silver, and copper
Non-renewable Resources
These are the resources that can be used more than once.
Examples of these resources are aluminum which can be used to make containers and then processed and reused
Recycled Resources
These are the resources which are considered inexhaustible because they have always the same amount present on earth. Examples of these include sunlight, water, and air.
Inexhaustible Resources
ALTERNATIVE RESOURCES IN THE PHILIPPINES (9)
Coal
Oil
Natural Gas
Nuclear Power
Hydroelectricity
Wind
Sun
Geothermal Power
Tides
The thin layer of fertile soil was formed by natural processes over thousands of years.
Soil Conservation
one of the major conservation problems that our country’s facing today because of deforestation and also the increasing rate of soil erosion due to the land clearing
Soil Erosion
The earth has abundant supply of water but as the demand of water is constantly increasing our ponulation is greatly increased too, and it may result of unever distribution.
Water Conservation
forests serves as homes for wildlife and timber. They are important because they are the one which absorb rain water and prevent the runoff water that causes Mooding and erosion (such as the watersheds)
Forest Conservation
A process of of rebuilding the forests by planting more tress is known as
Reforestation
Animals and plants are the reasons why our ecosystem is still in balance up to the present time, but because of the hunters who kill these animals for their self-interest, the habitats of wildlife species are being damaged and some of them are nearly endangered or maybe close to extinction.
Wildlife Conservation
Two most important purposes of Conservation
- To meet the demands for resources
- Maintain the quality of life
