Q

Point sources emit air pollutants from one or more controllable sites like smokestacks of power plants.
• Fugitive sources produce air pollutants from open area exposed to wind processes.
• Area sources are well-defined areas within which are several sources of air pollutants.

Q

Major Air Pollutants

A
  1. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless gas that is formed when carbon in fuel is not burned completely.
  2. Nitrogen Oxides (NO,) form when fuel is burned at high temperature as in combustion process.
  3. Sulfur Dioxide (SO,) formed when the fuel containing sulfur like coal and oil is burned and when gasoline is extracted from oil or metals are extracted from ore.
  4. Ozone (Os) created by a chemical reaction between oxides of nitrogen and volatile organic compound (VOC) in the presence of sunlight.
  5. Particular matter (PM) Particles found in the air, including dust, dirt, soot, smoke and liquid droplets.
  6. Lead is metal naturally found in the environment as well as in manufactured product.no
