Integrity objection

A

Utilitarianism fails to account for the separateness of persons insofar as it neglects that each person is an individual moral agent with distinctive desires, projects, opinions and commitments, and it assumes that all people can be subsumed into a single collective identity wherein happiness can be maximised without regard to individuals’ boundaries.

Rule utillitarianism

A

An action is right if and only if it conforms to the set of rules which is such that general compliance with that set of rules would produce at least as much welfare, hedonistically construed, as would general compliance with any other set of rules
