• lacks ecological validity as it isn’t applicable in everyday situations
• lacks mundane realism which results in it not being generalised to real life
• this means it is limited as to what it tells us about how minority influence can work in situations such as political campaigning

• in research studies, there is usually a clear distinction between majority and minority but in IRL situations it’s more complicated
• majority usually have more power and status whereas minorities are much more committed to their causes as they often face very hostile opposition
