Motor Effect Flashcards
What is the motor effect?
When a current carrying wire in a magnetic field and exerts a force on each other
Known as the motor effect as it causes the wire to move
Where does the wire move in the Motor effect
Flemming’s Left Hand Rules
Point First finger in direction of the Force (north to south poles)
Point seCond finger in the direction of the current
Point thuMb in the direction of the Motion
How does a split ring commutator work?
Swapping the contacts every half term to keep the motor turning in the same direction
Loudspeakers
Alternating current is sent through the coil of wire attached to the base of the paper cone and is caused to move due to the forces
When the current alternated it means that the cone will move in the opposite direction and create sound waves through the vibrations caused by it
The frequency is the same as the frequency of the alternating current
