What is moter learning
Process by which a person develops through a combination of physical and psychological factors the ability to perform tasks
What is an automatic skill vs a controlled skill
A controlled skill requires time and thought while an automatic skill is muscle memory that requires little thought or planing
What are the stages of fitts and Posner’s theory
Cognitive stage
Associative stage
Autonomous stage
What defines the cognitive stage
A vary basic understanding with large errors and a need for specific instructions
What defines the associative stage
Start to refine skills and become awareness of mistakes and making less of them
What defines the autonomous stage
Refining specific parts of skills and ability to do skill with little thought.

Learning through someone helping you

When skills can transfer from one skull to another.

Locomotor- moving skills
Manipulation- handling skills
Stability- balancing skills
Open vs closed skills
Open are performed in unpredictable environments and require adaptability
Closed skills happen in predictable environments

Shape vs chasing skills
Shape- gradually learning a skill by adding more difficult parts
Chaining- learn a skill in order of motion or vice versa
