Q

what does the name sybil show

A

-sybil is named after the greek myth of the sibyls, who were famous for their gift of prophecies, this is ironic as sybil on many occasions is deliberately blinded to the truth
-priestly wants to show she could behave so differently, she could help others rather then harm them
-she is also willfully blinded towards the actions of the men within her society
-this is supported with the quote “i don’t believe it, i wont believe it”
-she blinds herslef to the truth to be predujuce
