What is hemopoiesis?
Production of blood cells in red bone marrow.
What is cartilage?
connective tissue made up of collagen & chondroitin that makes tissue strong and flexible.
What are bone-forming cells which deposit collagen?
Osteoblasts.
What do osteoclasts do?
Resorbs or destroys bone and remodels damaged bone
What are osteons?
Repeating units of hard bone.
Describe the process of ossification
Process of turning cartilage into bone.
When does primary ossification happen?
After birth. It hardens bones.
What does secondary ossification do?
Increases bone length.
What are the 3 major types of joints?
Fibrous, Cartilaginous, Synovial joints.
Fibrous joints are joined by what type of tissue?
Connective tissue.
