Separation of the nail plate and bed. May be caused by allergic reactions,
Onycholysis
Ingrown nails on either hands or feet. Nail grows into the sides of the tissue around the nail
Onychocryptosis
Separation and falling off of a nail plate from the nail plate. Can be caused by infection, injury to the matrix, chemotherapy, or systemic illness.
Onychomadesis
Fungal infection of the nail plate. Consists of whitish patches that can be scraped off or pale yellowish streaks within the nail plate. Free edge may crumble
Onychomycosis
Inflammation of the matrix and shedding of the nail caused by infection or injury.
Onychia
Bacterial inflammation of the tissues around the nail plate, causing pus, swelling, and redness. May be seen in dry or chapped hands due to excessive exposure to water or detergents
Paronychia
Rapid growing and contagious bacteria that can cause infection. May manifest as yellow green spots that become darker (yellow to green to brown to black)
