Studied the representation of ethnic groups in the UK over 10 years. He used content analysis to examine symbols, language and images relating to the representation of ethnicity in media
He found that many groups were presented in a stereotype way and particularly examined in the way in which black people were stereotypes in the media. He discovered ethnic groups were portrayed in 5 ways
1.ciminals 2. Abnormal 3. A threat 4. Dependent 5. Unimportant
