Pilot Qualifications

A

Pilots shall be designated in writing by the CO in accordance with CNAF 3710.7 and this manual. Pilots shall be designated using the following classification: H-60 Pilot Qualified in Model, MH-60R Helicopter Second Pilot, MH-60R Helicopter Aircraft Commander, and MH-60R Functional Checkflight Pilot, MH-60R NATOPS Instructor, MH-60R Assistant NATOPS Instructor, Night Vision Device Pilot, and Night Vision Device Pilot Instructor. Tactical/mission qualifications shall be attained per applicable Type/Wing Commander instructions.

MH-60R HAC Requirements

A

In addition to complete the requirements set forth for an MH-60R H2P, an MH-60R HAC shall:

  1. Meet the requirements for HAC specified in CNAF M-3710.7
  2. Satisfactorily complete an approved MH-60R HAC PQS syllabus.

Note: Prior H-60 HACs are not required to complete applicable H2P syllabus.

Minimum pilot currency requirements

A

An MH-60R pilot shall meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered current in model:

  1. Maintain a current NATOPS evaluation in model
  2. Maintain a current instrument rating in accordance with CNAF M-3710.7
  3. Satisfy night an instrument minimum flying hours as set forth in CNAF M-3710.7

Min flightcrew requirements: Flight from Air Capable Ships

A

Day VMC flights shall include a minimum of two H2Ps and one helicopter aircrewman, or one HAC, one qualified observer, and one helicopter aircrewman. Night or IMC flights shall include a minimum of one HAC, one PQM, and one helicopter aircrewman.

Min flightcrew requirements: Instrument flight

A

In addition to the requirements set for in CNAF M-3710.7, flightcrew for planned instrument flight shall consist of one HAC and one Designated Naval Aviator (DNA) or two H2Ps. Flights in which IMC conditions are simulated through visually restrictive devices shall include a qualified observer in the cabin area. All pilots must hold a valid instrument rating with the exception of the DNA who is receiving instrument refresher training, or if on an instrument checkflight.
