Q

primary motor cortex & corticospinal tract (efferent)

A

primary motor cortex in frontal lobe

corticospinal tract:
- upper motor neuron starts in cortex
- crosses in medulla
- synapses on lower motor neuron
- lower motor neuron exits through ventral root

Q

primary somatosensory cortex & dorsal column pathway (afferent)

A

primary somatosensory cortex in parietal lobe

dorsal column pathway:
- sensory neuron enters through dorsal root
- ascends spinal cord
- synapses & crosses in medulla
- synapses again in thalamus
- projects to somatosensory cortex
