because your computer only reads digital signals and the modem translates them to analog so it can be read in the internet
what does it mean when a modem demodulates analog signals
it turns the analog signals from the internet in to digital signals that your computer can read
what does it mean when your modem modulates digital signals
it turns the digital signals into analog signals so the internet can read them
what is a router
what routes your internet connection to all the devices in your home/ businesses so that all of them can use the internet/ come after the modem
what do smaller routers usually have built in
has a built in switch with multiple ports to connect devices by their Ethernet cable to the internet /functions as a wireless access point so that wireless devices can connect
do you need a router if you only have one device connected
no you don’t/ you can plug the devices network cable for direct access
