How do we learn about the past (#1)
A Primary Source
Definition: A person or object that actually experienced history happening. I.e: Witness
EX: Grandparents, journal, photographs, etc
How do we learn about the past (#2)
A Secondary Source
Definition: A person or medium (media pl.) that gathers information from a primary source
EX: Person who spoke to primary source, social media (I.e: Twitter or Instagram), newspaper
How do we learn about the past (#3)
A Tertiary Source
Definition: A collection of primary and secondary sources (that have been written down)
EX: Textbooks, encyclopedias, Mrs Wark, movie based on real life
Where was New France?
New France was around The Gulf of Lawrence, the St. Lawrence river, PEI, Nova Scotia, Antacosti island, and Newfoundland & labrador.
Important cities/colonies: Fort Halifax (British), Louisbourg (French), Stadacona (Quebec City), Hockelega (Montreal)
Where was New France? (Directions)
North: Hudsons Bay (important to the fur trade) East: To Europe South: United States/ The 13 colonies West: Ontario SW: Roughly around where we live
