NIV Flashcards

1
Q

What are the advantages of Pressure-targeted ventilation?

A
  1. the pressure delivered is constant and avoids
sudden pressure increase that occurs with volume control
  2. compensates for air leak
  3. EPAP flushes exhaled CO2 from the mask and distal ventilator tubing, aids triggering and counteracts the tendency for upper airway collapse during expiration.
