Q

rules to analyze NMR

A
  1. find MF
  2. find degrees of Un
  3. look at number of signals and integration of each signal
    - take integration heights and divide by smallest number
    - multiply by 2 to get full number
  4. draw out fragments
    - recognize ethyl, isopropyl, tert butyl
  5. assemble fragments

Q

degrees of U

A

U=0, no pi bonds or rings
U=1, 1 ring or 1 pi bond
U=4, ring
* for every degree of U, lose 2 H
