-diet
-stress
-excersise
-life situations
What forms a tumour
The rapid division of abnormal cells
What are malignant tumours
Cancerous tumours that invade neighbouring tissues and spread to other parts of the body in the blood forming secondary tumours
What are benign tumours
Non-cancerous tumours that do not spread in the body
What are the four risk factors for non-communicable diseases
-diet (obesity) and amount of excessive
-alchohol
-smoking
-carcinogens
What are carcinogens
Ionising radiation and genetic risk factors
What are the treatments form cardiovascular diseases
-stent
-statins
-replacing the faulty heart valves
-transplants
What is stent and give an advantage and disadvantage
Stents are inserted into blocked coronary arteries to keep them open.
An advantage is their is less serious surgery
A disadvantage is that there are risks from the anaesthetic used during surgery
What are statins and give an Advantage and a disadvantage
Statins are drugs that reduce blood cholesterol levels, slowing down the deposit of fatty material in the arteries
An advantage is that they are effective
A disadvantage is the possible side effects such as muscle pain, headaches and sickness developing
How does the replacing of faulty heart valve’s work and give and advantage and disadvantage
Replace heart valves that leak or do not fully open, preventing control of blood flow through the heart with biological or mechanical valves
An advantage is that they are a long -term cure for faulty heart valves
A disadvantage is that it can involve major surgery which creates risk of infection, blood loss, blood clots and damage to blood vessels
