Children typically begin to engage in symbolic play and develop language skills around the age of 18 months to 2 years old.
- This is when they start using objects to represent other things and can think symbolically, allowing them to participate in pretend play.
Moral development
Set of values and beliefs about code of behaviors conform to thise shared by others in society.
-does not scritly follow chroloinci age, but outgrowth from cognitive development

-preschool- children follow parent rules
- middle year- children accept parent rukes but allow exceptions
-adolescents -recognize rules whats good
Kohlberg Preconventional morality ( 1st level )
punishment and obedience to the parent are the determining factor
Kohlberg (Role Conformity) second level
Children tend conform to gain approval and maintain good relationships with others
Kohlberg (Self- accepted) 3rd Highest level
children voluntarily comply with rules based on concept of ethical principles and make exceptions to rules in certain circumstances
