Courage
- Takes bravery to truly advocate for patients. Can have knowledge and be competent, but it is about speaking up.
Tell me about a time you had to advocate for your patient
STAR METHOD:
S: Patient on geriatric ward that was on a health decline due to vascular dementia and was unable to express health decline.
T: My task was to provide HCA duties which included assisted feeding, it wasn’t until the patient could not eat and was not responsive to personal care that it was within my role to report.
A: Reported concerns to Nurse, and gave relevant information for them to pass onto Dr
R: Dr assessed patient and within best interests of patient, made relevant interventions which resulted in TEP C and palliation.
How do you manage patient documentation and ensure its accuracy?
- All throughout my health care career I have developed skills in documentation
- Endoscopy use care plans that require thorough documentation
- Ensure it is timely and precise
- Use correct terminology
- Chronological order
- Sign and date
