ao3: obedience may be dispositional; not situational; cannot explain all types of diobedience

A

A significant minority of milgrams ppts disobeyed despited recognising the experimenters scientific authority.
Adorno’s research showed that people who scored high on f scale disliked the weak and identified with strong people.Sugguests that some people may be more/less obedient than others, as sugguested by authoritarian explanation, due to things such as an individuals personality and childhood.
Therefore the ……. explanation cannot explain all types of disobedience

ao3: explain cultural differences

A

in a milgram style study - researchers found that 16% of austrailian female ppts went up 450v. However in a different study 85% of german ppts went up to 450v.
This means in some cultures, authority is morely to be accpeted as legitmate and so is entitles to obedience from individuals.
This reflects the diiferent ways that societies are structured and how people are expected to obey.
