oligomenorrhea (no menstrual bleeding in the past 5 months) in the setting of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
most appropriate treatment?
Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) for 10 days every 3 months
PCOS have a relative excess of estrogen stimulation of the endometrium
and are at risk for endometrial hyperplasia and cancer. Combined hormonal
contraceptives or medications that contain progesterone reduce this risk by stabilizing
the endometrium, as well as improving excess androgen.
Treatment for postpartum thyroididitis?
a destructive triphasic condition that can occur
after pregnancy. This patient is in the hyperthyroid phase, which is followed by a
hypothyroid phase that can last 3–12 months
β- Blockers are used for symptomatic treatment in the hyperthyroid phase.
