A
- position patient 30-45 degrees
- “any pain?”
- “How many weeks pregnant are you”
- ” do you need to empty your bladder”- urine dip??
- Expose patient form xiphisternum to pubic symphysis and provide a blanket

A
- pain
- discomfort
- previous c section scars
- obvious visible foetal movement
- skin changes
- linea nigra
- striae gravidarum
- striae albicans - facial swelling/ oedema

What should be palpated when doing a Pregnant Abdomen Exam?
A
Fundal Height
* Fundus to pubic symphysis
* measure tape facing down
Lie of Foetus:
* feel for baby head
* feel for baby bottom
* feel for baby back
* assess the lie of baby
Presentation
* cephalic/ breech
Ankles for oedema

What do we auscultate in a Pregnant Abdomen Exam?
A
- listen to baby’s back
- place doppler between baby’s shoulder and listen for one minute
- compare with mum’s pulse
