Diagnostic Criteria

A

4 or more of the following:

  1. Preoccupied w/ details,rules, lists, order, organization.. to the extent that the main point of the activity is lost
  2. perfectionism that interferes w/ task completion
  3. devoted to work and productivity to the exclusion of leisure activity and friendships
  4. inflexible about matters of morality, ethics, or values
  5. unable to discard worn out or worthless objects
  6. reluctant to delegate tasks or to work w/ others unless they submit to exactly their way of doing things
  7. miserly spending style toward self and others
  8. rigidity and stubbornness

Obessions

A

Unwanted or uncontrollable; intrude into consciousness
Obsessions are also resisted; they must be dealt with, neutralized or altogether avoided
FEAR that if it is not dealt with disaster will occur

Compulsions

A

Most functionally impairing
Categories: decontamination, checking, repeating routine activities, ordering and arranging and mental rituals
They are senseless AND excessive
Used to reduce distress

Avoidance

A

aim is to prevent specific consequences such as contamination or illness OR is focused on preventing obsessional thoughts from occurring in the first place

A

Enabling through a friend or relative; they will either do the ritual for them or help them through the ritual

Body Dysmorphic and hoarding. Also obsessive compulsive personality disorder

A
