What is the sclera?
An opaque , white fibrous layer that is continuous with the cornea
What is the choroid?
Consists of the vessels which form the circulation of the eye
What is the retina?
The innermost layer of the eye
What is the cornea?
The main structure for refraction, it is 5 layers and is transparent and convex
What is the lens?
A transparent body enclosed by elastic membrane
What is the conjunctiva?
A thick, transparent mucous membrane that lines the lid
What is the anterior chamber?
The space between the cornea and the iris
What is the posterior chamber?
The space between the iris and the lens
What is the uvea?
Iris, ciliary body and choroid
What is the vitreous?
A jelly-like substance that maintains structure
What is aqueous humour?
The fluid produced in the uvea
What is role of the iris?
It opens and closes to control the quantity of light through the pupil
What does the ciliary body do?
Contracts releasing tension on the zonule which makes the lens more convex.
