Ohms law Flashcards
(10 cards)
What is ohms law
Ohm’s Law states that the voltage across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it
Write the formula for Ohm’s Law.
V=I×R (Voltage = Current × Resistance)
What does V stand for in the formula and what is it measured in
V=IR?
Voltage, measured in volts (V).
What does I stand for in the formula
V=IR?
Current, measured in amperes (A).
What does R stand for in the formula
V=IR?
Resistance, measured in ohms (Ω).
How do you calculate current if you know voltage and resistance?
I = V ÷ R
How do you calculate resistance if you know voltage and current?
R= V ÷ I
A resistor has a resistance of 10 Ω. If a current of 2 A flows through it, what is the voltage across the resistor?
Use V=I×R
V= 2×10=20volts
A circuit has a voltage of 12 V and a resistance of 4 Ω. Calculate the current flowing through the circuit.
I= V ÷ R
12 ÷ 4 –> 3 amperes
The voltage across a component is 9 V and the current through it is 3 A. What is the resistance?
A:
R= V ÷ I
9 ÷ 3 –> 3 ohms
