What happened at Drogheda?

A

Irish catholics killed 4000 protestants in ireland in 1641.
After the civil war, cromwell sent 12,000 men to Doghreda attacking soldiers that had already surrendered.

Who was Oliver Cromwell?

A

Cromwell was a puritan who opposed chalres 1. He fought for parliament and became the most powerfulmman in england as leader of the new model army.
After civil war, in 1646 cromwell tried to reason with charles but he betrayed them and started the secomd civil war.
Parliament asked cromwell to put down any remaining loyalists.. he did brutally in drogheda in 1649 - massacred 3500 people including civilians.
He was lord protecor of england, scotland and ireland
