They were a group of monks who opposed the reformation by refusing to follow the changes made by Henry such as the act of Supremacy.

Why was the opposition to the reformation so limited
- The refromation before 1536 had no real effect on the public, they would not have understood the laws as many were illiterate, and the fact it was a legal process led by Cromwell meant they could not argue with it
