Describe the preparation and purification of an organic liquid:

1. Pour the reaction mixture into a seperating funnel and allow the organic layer and aqueous layer to separate
2. Run the denser layer (usually organic) into a small conical flask
3. Add anhydrous salt (e.g. MgSO4) to dehydrate the organic substance
4. then distill/redistill the organic substance and collect the distillate containing the pure organic product at the product’s exact boiling point
