Orthopedics Lab mid term review for BS Flashcards
(64 cards)
Cervical spinous percussion
shooting or lingering pain/ fracture, disc hemorrhage or mestastasis
valsalva maneuver
increased symptoms/ increased intrathecal pressure to affect herniated disk or space occupying lesion
Cervical compression test
pain, tingle, numbness down arm or between shoulder blades/ nerve root compression, disk herniation, foraminal encroachment
spurling test
pain, tingle, numb down arm, between shoulder blades/nerve root compression, disk herniation, foraminal encrachment
Maximal foraminal compression
pain, tingle, numb down arm, between shoulder blades/nerve root compression, disk herniation, foraminal encrachment
Cervical distraction test
Less pain/ confirms from cervical compression, maximal foraminal compression or spurling test encroachments, More pain/sprain or strain of fascet joints
Shoulder depression test
worsend radicular symptoms/ brachial plexus irritation, adhesions, osteophytes
Soto hall
localized pain/ vertebral fracture, joint injury of cervical
Soto hall with brudzinski sign
hip and knee flex to control pain/meningitis
Thrasic spinous percussion
shooting or lingering pain/fracture, disk hemorrhage or metastasis
Forward bending test (adams)
rib hump/ help differientiate between structural or functional scoliosis
adsons test
loss of pulse, numb, tingle/ vascular thorasis outlet syndrome from anterior scalene
Reverse adsons test
loss of pulse, numb, tingle/ vascular thorasic outlet syndrome from middle scalene
edens test
loss of pulse/ vascular thorasic outlet syndrome from costoclavicular space
Roo’s test
pain, numb, tingle, loss of motor control, weakness/ vascular throasic outlet syndrome
Wrights test
loss of pulse/ compression of neurocervical bundle caused by pectoralis minor
Allen test
more than 15 second for hand to go from white to pink/ implies arterial disease may be problem not TOS etc
Upper limb tension test
reproduction of symptoms, dermatomal pattern/nerve thorasic outlet syndrome, excessive nerve tension
Breathing pattern test
thorasic breating/ could cause irritation to brachial plexu
cluster for diagnosing cervicaal radiculopathy
upper limb tension test, cervical rotation less than 60 deg, pos spurling, pos distraction
Canadian C spine x ray rules
after high risk trauma: Rust sign, axial load injury, over 65, congntive impairment, neurological symptoms
Speeds test
pain and tenderness in bicipital groove/bicipital tendenopathy or tendinosis, SLAP lesion, strain of bicep muscle
codmans drop arm test
pain, weakness, dropped arm/tear of supraspinatus, rotator cuff muscle
Muscle test for Supraspinatus, empty can
within 5 seconds, weakness or pain/supraspanitous strain or inpingment
