Q

How is osmoregulation achieved?

A

If the body is dehydrated more water is reabsorbed by the kidneys into the blood thus the water balance is maintained.

Q

How does ADH (anti diuretic hormone) work?

A

The brain monitors the water content in the blood.
It instructs the pituitary gland to release ADH into the blood according to how much is needed
The whole process of osmoregulation is controlled by a mechanism called NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.
THis means that if the water content gets too high or too low a mechanism will be triggered to bring the balance back to normal
