Q

biochem test

A

Test 1: Bacitracin sensitivity test- Isolate is resistant
* Test 2- CAMP test. Isolate is positive ; Central streak – Staphylococcus aureus

  • Principle of CAMP test : S. aureus sphingomyelinase and CAMP factor of S. agalactiae are responsible for the CAMP reaction. Sphingomyelinase first hydrolyzes sphingomyelin to ceramide, making erythrocytes susceptible to the lytic activity of factor CAMP.
