Flashcards in Osteology Deck (31):
0

Iliac crest

Superior border of the wing of the ileum attachment site for several abdominal muscles

1

Tubercle of the crest

Prominent lateral expansion of the iliac crest

2

Anterior superior iliac spine

Subcutaneous and palpable lateral attachment of the inguinal ligament.

3

Anterior inferior iliac spine

Located just inferior to the anterior superior iliac spine serves as the site of muscle attached

4

Pubic tubercle

Small well-defined typical on the pubic bone serves as the media attachment of the inguinal ligament

5

Iliac fossa

Depression occupying the pelvic surface of the ala of the ileum serves as the attachment site for the iliacus muscle

6

Sacral promontory

Anterior projecting ridge of the body of the S1 vertebra

7

Pubic arch

Foreign to buy the inferior remind the pubic bones

8

Pectineal line

Sharp ridge running along the superior surface of the pubic ramus junction of the ileum and pubis

9

Arcuate line

Raisin line on the internal surface of the ileum which separates the body from the Ala

10

Posterior superior iliac spine

Located at the superior and of the posterior border of the ileum. Most posterior portion of the pelvis.

11

Posterior inferior iliac spine

Just inferior to the superior iliac spine

12

Ischial spine

Triangular point separating the lesser and greater sciatic notches

13

Ischial tuberosity

Large tuberosity located on the ischium

14

Greater sciatic notch

Semicircular notch that forms the greater sciatic foramen

15

Lesser sciatic notch

Shallow notch that creates the lesser sciatic foramen

16

Ischiopubis ramus

Bar formed by the fusion of the ischium and the pubis at the bottom of the pelvis

17

Obturator foramen

Large overloading at the bottom of each hip bone

18

Median sacral crest

Form from the fusion of sacral spinous processes

19

Iliolumbar ligaments

Runs from the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebra to the iliac crest

20

Interosseous ligament

Extremely deep and strong ligament dorsal to the sacroiliac ligament

21

Ventral and dorsal sacroiliac ligaments

Ligaments which strengthen and help stabilize the sacroiliac joint

22

Sacrotuberous ligament

Extremely tough ligament that runs from the lateral margins of the sacrum to the ischial tuberosity

23

Sacrospinus ligament

Extremely tough ligament that runs from the lateral sacrum and toxic to the ischial spine

24

Portions of the levator Ani

Iliococcygeus, pubococcygeus, puborectalis from lateral to medial.

The puborectalis stretches from pubis to pubis forming a loop around the rectum

25

Muscles of the pelvic diaphragm

Prirformis, coccygeus, obturator internus, levator Ani (moving from lateral to medial)

26

Gateways of the pelvis

Greater sciatic foramen, lesser sciatic foramen, obturator canal, beneath the inguinal ligament

27

Greater sciatic foramen

Piriformis muscle, superior and inferior gluteal nerve and vessels, sciatic nerve, pudendal nerve, internal pudendal artery and vein.

28

Lesser sciatic foramen

Obturator internus muscle and tendon, pudendal nerve and internal pudendal vessels

29

Obturator Canal

Obturator never and vessels

30

Beneath the inguinal ligament

Muscular lacuna
-illiopsoas muscle
-lateral femoral cutaneous nerve
-femoral nerve

Vascular lacuna
-femoral artery
-femoral vein
