What is situational awareness?

"The perception of elements in the environment within a volume of space of time, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future"

2

How do we achieve SA?

- of that information to develop a current mental model

3) projection
- of current mental model forward to predict how it will change with time

3

What is SET?

- three elements is fundamental in the process of attaining good SA

SET

Systems
environment
time

4

What is important about SA?

We can not expect to maintain adequate SA passively. We must actively seek and share all relevant information.

Knowledge is power!

5

What factors can cause poor SA

Poor prioritisation

Distraction

Expectation
