Why were people hopeful there may have been changes in society at the start of the period?
Changes during WW2 such as women working, President Kennedy elected.
Which group emerged in the 1950s?
Teenagers, they started to question the beliefs of their parents and society

The TV, for the first time, most US households had one in their home
Why had the role of government changed?
Roosevelt had implemented changed after the Great Depression which caused many Americans to expect the government to intervene.
Why did society have to start listening to young people?
In the 1960s there was the ‘baby boomers’, they now made up a large percentage of the population

How did the economy influence protests?
There was great prosperity, but mostly for white protestant men, the greater wealth highlighted inequality.
